Limit switches:
I found the +X switch to have a broken housing and be providing inconsistent operation when activating the mechanical switch, so it needs to be replaced. Although, I also found that all the limit switches operate as follows:
Mechanically open / Electrically open
Mechanically closed / Electrically closed

Questions:
Can these switches be used for HOME position switches?
What is conventional CNC mill HOME POSITION? +Z +Y +X ???

For NON-HOME limit switches, in series with the E-STOP, do I need new switches that are Mechanically open / Electrically closed ???
Where do I purchase these switches to fit my application? (pics below)

What is this component? It's mounted on the front side of the table at the +X edge. Seems to be magnetic.

So the limit switch issue was much easier to solve than I thought, I have new switches on the way from Digi-Key.
Very responsibly prices at $3.60 each shipped. :D :roll: :D

It wasn't obvious at first, but the switch can be used either way, open or closed in the pressed state.
There are 3 terminals on the standard switch for configuration, but the one I need has been cut off from all of them.

Although, I still don't know what this component does:

Looks like a magnetic switch to me.
Wire your limit/home switches using normally closed contacts.

I believe its this from the manual,

The Safety Shield encloses the milling area to help protect the operator from
flying chips. A magnetic Shield Interlock Switch prevents the machine from
operating with the shield open.

Can't open file but the safety interlock sounds reasonable to me. I bet they defeated it based on your picture.

Thank you both, I've seen pictures of the machines with clear enclosures, so I'm sure you're correct that it's a safety switch.
Good to know !!!

Marty - yes, normally closed, thanks. I have switches coming that may be used either way.
RL - the manual link is great, there's one in there on the ATC, which been thinking about, so that should be helpful as well.

Acorn

I really appreciate Marty and DICKEYBIRD identifying the signal isolator and VFD in earlier posts.
Although, I've done some searching and not found much on how to make this part of the system operational.

This is all new frontier for me, so if someone would be willing to draw a schematic, that would be super helpful.
I also don't know how to size the power supply and if any other components are needed.

I'd really like to place my order tomorrow or the day after so I can get the spindle connected and operational ASAP.
I know it's a bit of a tall order, but I'm definitely out of my element at the moment.

I'm pretty sure Dickeybird posted a wiring schematic for this combo. Search the Drive model number to see if it turns it up.

Thanks Marty, I found it, it helped a lot.
I studied it and reviewed the data sheets for the signal isolator and the drive, things are making more sense.
I was stuck on the idea that another DC power supply was needed like for the Acorn & Gecko.
It didn't occur to me these might be integrated to the components.

Although, I do have minor uncertainty, where I just need confirmation I'm seeing things correctly.
For both the KBCC-125R and KBSI-240D, electrical supply can be standard wall socket power, 120v AC?
In Milton's set up below, the boxed component is simply 120v AC power distribution, right?

Also, I made some simple modifications to Milton's diagram to be sure I was understanding.
...Removed the manual/auto switch and manual potentiometer.
...Included optional 1A fuse on KBSI-240D line.
...Marked power supply as 120v AC

Also, where does the ground from the 120v AC get hooked up?
