Yes, I also thought about a force feedback handwheel some time ago. I think BMW pioneered this configurable rotary knob a long time ago. You could program it to have clicks, end stops, freewheeling motion and you could program something like that to give you a feeling of the feed or cutting forces, by forwarding spindle or axis motor current. Like force on a steering wheel or milling machine axis handwheel.
But I checked and force feedback knobs are very hard to find, mostly rare DIY projects with selected (for low cogging) high pole gimbal motors.
But then, an Airbus 320 sidestick does not have force feedback neither...
