m400, windows failure to load

Summary.
It looks like I either
1: Do the MBR thing and hopefully save whatever is on the drive.
or
2: Let windows format the drive and start from scratch.
That about it?

Yup, those are your choices. And there are two CR2032 stacked in the board.

Decided to start from scratch.
When I got to this window I chose the format option thinking windows would fix it as it wanted. Not so far.
I formatted the top 2 partitions and left the third alone.
I receive the same error message.
1: Should I have also formatted the 3rd partition (OEM reserved)?
2: How do I fix this?
3: When fixed, which partition should windows be installed on?

Windows should be installed on the Primary partition which should already be NTFS unless you chose to format it as something else.

Should be but it's not ntfs. It did not give me any option when choosing the "format" option.
At this point it looks like I have to do the USB MBR deal to get the system to accept windows. Yes, no?

No, you shouldn't need the MBR setup for reinstall.

If you are 100% sure you just want to start from scratch then you need to delete the three partitions that are listed then you will have just one option, "Drive 0 Unallocated Space." Once the partitions are deleted, select that "Drive 0 Unallocated Space" and click "Next" and the Windows 10 installer should start without issue. It will create the partitions it needs and will automatically format them for you.

I would remake the USB stick and try again since it's complaining about Windows install files. Maybe even try another USB stick if you have one, its possible this one is showing signs of data loss. Be sure to EJECT the USB drive before you remove it from the PC that created the Windows 10 install to reduce the risk of data corruption. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/win ... Windows_11

New USB, did long format on it, loaded windows, safe unload.
No joy, same result.
Next Idea?

It seems like this is not an uncommon problem. There are lots of pages on the Web dealing with this. Google the error code, and try some of the suggested solutions. One of the postulated causes is a bad target disc. This could explain the original boot failure.
