Re: Refit of old CandCNC Machine
Hey,
The drives are Dyn4 and the motors are DMM 750oz Ac Servo. I will go back and check the pulleys and see if there is anything.
The steps are set as per the setup If I recall correctly.
Thank you
Phil

Re: Refit of old CandCNC Machine
DYN4s unlikely to be the cause of the problem. They should have no problem with the job. I would check all mechanicals

Re: Refit of old CandCNC Machine
Seems to be a belt tension issue. I tightened the tension and it’s 98 percent better. Will adjust again tomorrow and hopefully get it spot on.
Thanks for the direction

Re: Refit of old CandCNC Machine
check the pulleys for sure! use sleeving locktite on the axis drive pulleys! put a dab on the pulley to shaft interface.

Re: Refit of old CandCNC Machine
Hey all,
I have been doing too many things and got back to the CNC this weekend. I am still having some issued with my X-axis stepping over on each progressive cut to depth.
So to recap things when I do a pocket function for example if I make the pocket 2 inches by 4 inches and 1/2 inch deep it is programmed for 4 passes.
The first cut is 2 x 4 and .125 deep. The second pass is the same size but it moves to the positive x-axis direction 1/16 inches. The next pass moves over 1/16 and so on.
The finished cut is stair-stepped on the left side and 4.25 wide measured at the top even with the first cut.
I have ruled out any slop in the motor drive end of things and measured backlash at .0010. I have made the compensation in the configurations. And it still makes no difference. I have experimented with the backlash and it seems to not make a difference.
I have done the coarse and fine DRO settings. I am currently at .002 over a 35" measured distance.
I am at a loss on what to check next. Super frustrated.
Test drawings are being made in Vcarve pro using centroid post-processor.
This machine is running DMM DYN 4 drives and their servos.
There is no similar thing occurring in the Y-axis. When I do a square or other size part the size on the first cut is exactly the right size in the x and y axis. The depth of the cut is right on as well.
Open to all suggestions.
Thank you
Phil

Re: Refit of old CandCNC Machine
I have gone back and reread some posts from before when this issue raised its head.
This is happening on every program I run which is a pocket program. The issue is there during a profile operation but not as bad.
It is only on the X-axis. no problem on the y-axis or z-axis.
Thanks for the help.
Phil
