As of today, the FADAL TRM is running under Centroid OAK and DMM Technologies DYN4 and 1.3KW AC Servos. Initially, so far so good...
Cabinet still needs tidying up, but I don't do that until machine is completed.
Spindle drive is Automation Direct GS3

UPDATE:
All was running well. However when using the MPG to jog the Z axis downward, I would get an OverVoltage Fault on the drive.
I was able to discuss this issue with DMM. Stephen at DMM responded "The problem is caused by gravity. When the Z axis goes down, all the energy from the Z axis weight is transferred back into the drive so it's boosting the drive voltage and causing the fault. So it's normal for this to happen when going down."
My incoming AC voltage is 243 volts. I did purchase a 100ohm 200watt resistor and installed in on the Z axis and made some minor changes to the Z axis gain settings in the drive. So far, no faults.
I am hopping around on several projects, but hope to do some more testing, cut some metal and do an updated video on the FADAL in the not too distant future.
My normal contact at DMM has been away for several weeks. Stephen was prompt in responding and knowledgeable on their drives and motors.

Hi Marty, So your TRM does not have a counter weight? I have a Haas VFO 1993 that is counter balanced and was interested it the lower price point the DMMs have going for them.

Be sure to look at the dimensions carefully when selecting servos for that machine. I’m guessing it’s the same as my VF-1, which doesn’t have much room for the X axis servo.

My FADAL does not have room for the X axis MS connectors. I have them facing up for the time being.that puts them above the table. Not ideal. I think I can make it work with molex connectors and pigtails like what come in the smaller motors. NOT ideal for flood coolant, but you really would run flood on an open machine..... Working that out....

I was really close to ordering the 1.3kW NEMA servos for mine but luckily I measured. Even without the connector, the body of the servo wouldn’t fit into the older haas machines. I think I’ve posted some pictures of what DMM came up with that does fit. It’s their 86mm 750W servo lengthened a bit and rated for 1kW.

Nice they worked it out for you!
