The advice on the DIP switch seemed to have solved the overheating situation. The E-stop and limit switches are working as they should. However, I still don't have any movement. I have received my DB25 breakout connectors. I am using Centroid's drawing S14851 as reference for wiring it up. I see where Step 1 is on Pin 2 and Direction 1 is on pin 3. What is the "Output 1" on pin 1? Is this the Enable signal for the drive?

There is another problem that may or may not be associated with the above. When I started this I took an extra laptop running Win !0. I reset it, installing a clean copy of Win !0. I did all the updates. Every time I get into CNC12 and exit it. I have to reboot the PC, open the Wizard, getting a message that I have to update CNC12, exit that, start CNC12, getting a message to Power cycle the Acorn. I shut every thing down, bring all back up, Acorn first, then and only then cn I successfully open the Wizard, shut it down and then open CNC12. If I need to exit CNC12 and make a change in the Wizard, I have to go thru the whole routine again. Any thoughts?

Gary, you are saying as far as INPUT and OUTPUTS go correct? I would agree with that.

Centroid recommends the use of the DB25 for 5V logic drives.

My answer was to his question: "What is the "Output 1" on pin 1? Is this the Enable signal for the drive?" And was trying, albeit thru some convoluted verbiage, to tell him using the DB 25 for OTHER THAN step and direction is not recommended

Thanks for all the advice. I have movement . I will do the same for the other axis once the new stepper arrives. Then its on to putting all this into a case and then on to spindle control. Thanks for all the help. One of these days, I'll get back to putting my lathe back together. It started as a 7 x 10 but I am converting it to 7 x 16. Wish me luck.
