It's wired as per schematic.
I'm putting off any more on z axis until I get the new spindle cable.
Any clues as to what might be going on with my MPG, looks as if I'm the only one having problems with it. I don't feel
that special!

When I first connected my MPG to my system I had the same exact symptoms you described.
The issues were resolved by re-booting the pc anc cnc12 with the wireless receiver disconnected. Then I re-booted it again with the receiver connected and the MPG on before I turned on the system.
I haven't had a problem since.

Thank you Reed, that did the trick however Windows required a third boot to get the touch screen back!
Hooray, the MPG sure makes setups easier.

I'm hopeful and confident that MPG problem is solved, not really sure how though! Windows is like our government!
I made the mistake of stating two problems, MPG and z down drift.
The main thing that made a difference was changing the step polarity. Moving wires has no effect on y axis after change.
I believe down drift is caused by the vfd ( hopefully cable ) and I think the down drift is caused when spindle starts and z axis
makes big move from home position. The drift seems to be proportional to z movement.
I made a servo motor mounting plate from 1/2" micarta and the .3" deep rectangular pocket was cut without z moving.
After I install new spindle cable I'll check again for z drift.
I don't have an ac filter on the vfd yet but servos have individual filters on both power and control sides.
I will be firing up machine shortly and will report back on MPG situation.

Are you using an external 5VDC power supply or trying to use DYN4's 5VDC power supply?
This issue about DYN4 and Z axis creep has come up before. Seems that if you try and use the DYN4 power supply that creates a problem. Use an external power supply and it works fine.

I am using a wallwart 5v supply, it uses a 3 terminal regulator, less than 5 mv. ripple, same with 24v supply.
