Meanwhile there are hundreds (if not more) running Centroid on production machines with no problems ....

Any reported bugs have been confirmed, tested and fixed pretty quickly in the past. I personally no longer use any other controls and Ive tried most if not all of them.

LinuxCNC can be great if you can deal with the time-sink it needs.

I was one of the persons responsible for the improper 3 months beta testing

I have also tested the first version long before the final BOB.

Both are working without any issues and I am not aware of a single case the BOB is making problems.

While testing and making beta testing with lots of peoples, it is simply impossible to catch all computers on the market possible causing problems.

IMHO Centroid is making a very good job with alpha/beta testing before the sell products or releasing new software versions.

Now complaining about improper testing while not having the patience to wait till testing is done for 5.40 ;)

its been so long that we are waiting for this fix and still we got nothing.
if that was with a linux cnc that would have been solved long time ago.
and no we cannot use it without the bob as the machine was wired that way and to rewire it its time consuming.

i would have assumed that centroid would have sorted this after this long time and trying to go around circles.
thanks centroid this will be the first and the last centroid install period

Jason,

Hello.

USB BOB works great, we did make a backwards step with CNC12 v5.30 with an aspect of USB-BOB related support software, some USB BOB testing with v5.30 fell thru the cracks.

so you have three choices.

1.) Use the version of CNC12 that released with USB BOB which works and has no known USB BOB issues. (released version of CNC12 with USB BOB was v5.20 so you can run that or v5.22 or v5.24. all release notes are here. https://www.centroidcnc.com/centroid_di ... _notes.pdf)

2.) Participate in v5.4 beta testing which has the 9115 error fix, i can send you a link today with a free license upgrade to v5.4

3.) or wait for the v5.4 official release.

we just finished a acorn installaation on a lathe which we are using a usb bob as well on this set up.
there is a strange thing going on that 8 out of 10 you go to switch on the machine you will get this fault (9115 usb input setup fault) and all of the machine wont work and no matter if you try to reset the fault.
than sometimes you will switch on the machine and you do not get this fault and the machine will work as it should

has anyone ever encountered anything like this???

thanks
jason
looking into 9115 more. one of your critical action buttons are pressed down, buttons such as cycle start, spindle start, cycle cancel etc.. on start up!
so this most likely means you have a Normally Open switch set to Normally Closed in the Wizard or vs. verse.
Use the Alt I menu to observe the input states or a continuity meter to figure this out.
you wouldn't want the machine to start moving when you first power up! to CNC12 issue a message 9115 input setup fault to let you know that you have a button being pressed all the time.

We've managed to reproduce it internally and are actively working on fixing this issue and several other fixes and improvements for USBBOB.
9115 is not a bug. it is letting you know you have a cycle start or other automatic action button pressed down on start up.
