Everything connected now, I can start to fine tune the drives and geometrical correction.
The first test with probe and a gauge ring is not too bad..

After some axis measurements I found out the first step should be to finetune the scale settings.
I also did some adjustments on the VCP with a large PARK button to not forget park the machine before turning it off.

Yeah, though my two day timeline to swap the CNC control was fucked up from non Centroid components I am using....
But I can confirm the stuff from you is exactly doing what it is supposed to do.
Uwe
thanks, this is great! anything you do find along the way we will fix or make better.

Is this the main method by which you do the finetuning for the axis - ie, you use something like a dial gauge to confirm the 'rough' setup (either through calculation or trial / error' and then you use the probe and calibrated ring?

The ring is only a lazy quick test.
For one axis moves I am using gauge blocks and a Mahr Millimess dial indicator.
Before with Acorn, the scales were connected to a DRO, that was easy to use for the screw compensation.
To set up the volumetric compensation I am using angular blocks and a dial indicator

Totally unacceptable on your part Uwe! We want a video of this in action. Quit screwing around and get it done!

You should know that old man like us are not as fast as they were in younger age
I have just placed orders for the last parts to build the C-Axis attachment.

Changed the construction for the C axis, shorter, lower profile and possible to use in AC and BC configuration....

3D Printed holder for the Z-Finder, wasted two inputs to keep it wired all time
Was supposed to be a time saver, but now since 5.24 CNC is asking me if I want to use the TTO or Probe for tool offset even if the probe is not plugged in
Soldered all encoder DB9 plugs, but the look of the cabinet is not as clean as I hoped, ended up more kind of Medusa style

First part milled with the new AcornSix and full closed loop.
Nice thing with scales it that they are taking care of backlash and pitch deviation from the ball screws.
I got some help from Centroid to dial in a smooth and fast regulation loop with the scales.
I am very pleased with the results, clean surface on circular cutting, out of round deviation of a 76mm milled hole is under 0.005mm.
That is kind of as good as possible with my cheap Chinese benchtop mill
CAM is with fusion and the last Autodesk PP for Centroid with small mods for simulation and rigid tapping.
Post and cycle start, rigid tapping M3 with 2000rpm also ok.
