The drive will watch the encoder on the motor to make sure it is in position. If it is not or can't get into the commanded position the drive will fault and stay in fault until it is reset.
If you wired the drive fault output correctly, the fault signal will trip the control and the control will stop and give you a drive fault message.
If you did not wire the drive fault or configured it correctly, the control will keep operating (DROs changing, spindle running, axis with non faulted drive will keep running, faulted axis will not)
To test your drive fault. Power down the control. Disconnect an encoder cable from a drive. Power up the control. Reset the control.
Try and move the axis you disconnected the encoder cable from via the VCP. You should get a Drive Fault message on the display and the drive itself should show a fault via it's LED indicator
In general, when asked for a fresh report, you should post one when you are asking for help with a new problem.

The drives ALM outputs are generally normally open when in normal operation. This allows you to connect both drive ALM outputs to one Acorn input. When either drive faults, it will close the Drive Fault input.

Ok my drives are wired correctly for ALM according to the wiring diagram provided by Uwe. Drive fault + going to input 5 on Acorn, Fault - going into Com on Acorn on H3, Not going into my com on my terminal blocks, I assume that did not matter. Enable going into respective drives and inputs on Acorn.
I tested as per your procedure Marty. When trying to move the axis the drive fault's out as it should, with no movement and red flashing LED on the drive. I tested BOTH drives, same results.
SO IF its wired correctly working as it should WHY did it NEVER fault out when it was missing steps???? I must have ran that program a dozen times and it NEVER faulted???

Did the control stop and show a drive fault in the dialog box after your test?
(Had you posted a fresh report after your test, I could have opened it and looked at your logs)

Yes in my test the control showed drive fault in the dialog and stopped all drive function. Sorry here is a report I did not do it the 1st time I did the test, but just retested and generated a report.

Just learn your feeds and speeds and monitor things. Do some test cuts.

Working on all that, and yes. I’m finally in the CAM and operator learning stage and cut my 1st successful parts last night from Intercon.
Very rewarding! In the home stretch.
Can you recommend a test that will guarantee to fault the drive so I can evaluate this with a proven method? Would be nice to know it’s working properly. If it does not I will ask John from Automation technology to see what he says.
