Re: Refit of old CandCNC Machine
When wiring the VFD to an input I see that the diagram I had was to input 5. Spindle ok. I already have Drive ok on that. I can go ahead and use Input 6 and just do spindle ok when I set up wizard on Input 6 correct?
Thank you
Phil

Re: Refit of old CandCNC Machine
SpindleOK is for a spindle
DriveOk is for an axis drive with the ability to provide a fault output or an alarm output.

Re: Refit of old CandCNC Machine
Ok So my question is on the ACORN DYN 4 Schematic it has wires that go to input 5 Drive OK . Looking at the schematic for the Hyuang VFD it has the spindle ok also on number 5.
Not sure what to do. It seems like in the wizard I can assign what I need the input to be.

Move the VFD to its own input. Pick an unused inputs and assign it to spindleOkfirepilot wrote: ↑Wed Nov 13, 2019 12:17 am Ok So my question is on the ACORN DYN 4 Schematic it has wires that go to input 5 Drive OK . Looking at the schematic for the Hyuang VFD it has the spindle ok also on number 5.

Re: Refit of old CandCNC Machine
Ok Moved the spindle to its own input.
Well at long last I had a chance to hook it all back up. I ran the drives through the auto tuning again. My homing is working very nicely and so I moved the X and the Y out to the middle of the table and turned the spindle on.......
It faulted the Z-axis drive motor same as before. Rats...
I did call DMM and spoke with Stephan. I told him Marty wasn't happy cause they were hard to get ahold of...
He is overnighting another Drive and motor to try.
I have everything grounded at this point to one location where my main feed comes in. Do I need to run a different separate wire from the control box to the frame of the machine? Do I also need to run a wire or cable from the ground of the outlet to the machine??
Still as perplexed as ever.
Thanks Phil

Re: Refit of old CandCNC Machine
Glad you told them I wast pleased. Still haven't heard from them...
Anyway, I wished you had an extra motor and encoder cable to test with. You might call them and ask to borrow one for testing. Just run it from the drive in the cabinet to the Z axis motor. You said you swapped drives. Did you swap motors from X or Y to Z?

Re: Refit of old CandCNC Machine
They are shipping me another motor and drive to test with. Should be here on Friday. I haven't tried switching motors from one spot to another. Just tried different drives.
Stephan was starting to think bad encoder on the Z axis. When I check the error on the DMM software its always "lost Phase".
I may switch motors tomorrow from z to x and see if it follows.

Yes. Do that. Swap motors and see if the problem follows the motor. Makes sure all connections are tight, connectors are screwed firmly to the drive.firepilot wrote: ↑Wed Nov 13, 2019 8:58 pm They are shipping me another motor and drive to test with. I look forward to hear what your test reveals.

Re: Refit of old CandCNC Machine
Ok,
I had a chance to swap motors this morning.I ran the spindle and no faults at all. Ran the Z axis up and down All was well.
I went ahead and installed the old Z axis motor to the X axis location......And it immediately faulted. Had not ever had a problem with that drive until I hooked that old Z axis motor to it.
So I believe the problem was the motor or encoder all along.
Will have another motor from DMM tomorrow and hopefully I can move on to learning about running this dang machine.
Phil
