I bought the decoder cable from centroid an few months ago. The wire they sell by the foot. The problem I see right now is that the pig tail comes out of the encoder to a cannon plug. Then the longer wire that runs into the cabinet has the other cannon plug end on it and then my soldered 9 pin connector. Im not really sure I wanna be opening up this decoder to desolder and solder on a new wire lead. Im guessing the decoder when new was over 500$
I gues I really dont have a choice.

Encoder not decoder

The cable you got from Centroid is the correct cable.
The factory encoder cable should have been ok. Did you solder the drain wire to the connector shell?

Yes I soldered it. Would oil and a stuff cable cause the factory cable it to go bad? The cable is from 1998. Is there anyway to check it it? I have the cable routed way out of the way of anything trying to isolate the issue as well.

I'll be honest. I'd replace the encoder with a new 1000 line encoder. That way I know there are no issues with it.
I assume the encoder is as old as the machine?

Yes. The machine is a 98 model.

I would check with Heidenhain and see if that model was still available.

Can you post a fresh report so we can get a look at your logs?
If there is good wire coming out of the encoder, you could splice the new cable onto the encoder cable shrink tube.

I'll post a new report sometime today. I need to finish making some parts then run the wizard to add the encoder back and get it to fault.

I ran the machine today with and without the encoder hooked up and I didnt get a fault. The encoder was hooked up when I was cutting. The air cut program was about 30 mins or so I it ran with not faults. I ran it three times I think. Heres a fresh report. I was getting alot of spindle faults on Sept 5th. This is when I was having issues.
