Just setting up the automation direct Gs2 and when we got to max rpm it is 9999. I have a 24000 rpm spindle. Have to call them on Monday I guess.......

Resistance values don't sound right.
Like Dan said, Chinese live on the edge....no ground. Solder a wire from that pin and connect to the body of the router.

I can picture what you did to roach the motor....unless you got a bad one which isn't far fetched.

I do have to give a shout out to DMM. I sent a note to sales at DMM and Stephen got back to me on how to treat the fault I had.

For those searching. “Lost Phase” is an encoder error. Check all encoder connections. I reseated my encoder cable connections and that cleared the fault.

Still have a fault when I power up a router.

So I need at this point to buy a spindle and a VFD that work together and have good instructions.

Where is a good place to look for them.

Online manuals, easy support. I need to get this heading in my direction. It doesn’t have to be the cheapest.

I can send the Gs2 back to Automation tomorrow. Not a big deal.

If the spindle sounds roaches then if I hook it to something I don’t see that having much upside.

Did you try any other non electronic router motor, just plug it in and start it roughly in the same position of the existing motor to see if your Z axis Trips?
Did you try and swap the Z DYN4 drive with X or Y and retry?

Yep I have tried two different routers. I tried running a separate encoder cable I have from the DMM servo away from the router cord directly to the drive and the same results.

I tried using the drive for the x axis, same issue. I shortened the drive cable from the Acorn to the DMM Drive no change.

I got a RMA from Automation Direct on the GS 2 VFD so will send that back today. Read a bunch of spindle specific threads on CNC zone, and ordered a Huanyang VFD and another spindle from Amazon this morning.

Lots of schematics for that VFD with settings. I can test the spindle and see what readings I get vs the one I have.

I sent all my information to DMM yesterday and I'll see if they have any insight to whats going on. I will update when I hear from them.

Phil

But XY don't fault when you turn the router motor on?

They do not.

Just the Y axis. X axis cables parallel the Z all the way to the control box.

You mean the Z axis correct?

Yes just the Z axis faults. Who’s on first??
