A) That looks like the Fixed Tool Measure Switch sold by WinCNC in the past, maybe even the present. They seem to work well, albeit mostly on ATC or semi-automatic MTC+ systems.Sawdust Steve wrote: ↑Thu May 19, 2022 12:11 pm Comedy over, now for some Acorn questions.
A) The CNC came with a Tool Height mounted to the frame. I've never been a fan of them. It is a simple SPST switch two wire output. Is that compatible with Acorn? If so, is it the same as home switches? (I've been a G92 with 1-2-3 block person.)
B) I have an AutomationDirect SSR for router power (M3/M5). It calls for 3-32vdc input. Can this be controlled directly from the Acorn board or do I need an intermediate relay?
Non-Acorn question, but hope for some guidance from builders. The CNC has an Acme leadscrew for the Z axis. Its 1/2" diameter and 9" of thread. What is a reasonable expected IPM for it with a 380 oz stepper and PC7518 router? Looking at the original WinCNC ini file it was set for 50 IPM with the original 161 oz steppers. Steve.
B) You can operate an SSR directly off the 1) Old Acorn version open collector outputs, 2) Ribbon cable signals , 3) with 24v run thru one of the new version output relays.
RE: Leadscrew... I would replace both the OEM motor with one from this millenium AND use a 5mm pitch ballscrew for the Z. I've seen some of their models that used 1/2-13 bolts for the Z.
