Marty - did you ever hear back from DMM? When I ordered for my lathe build a couple weeks ago they recommended I not order their Acorn -> DYN4 cable. I bought Amphenol DB25 cable and used that.

Make up your own cable, use 5vdc logic, don't use dropping resistors. The Centroid schematic has worked for me, but ok if you use the DB25.

Also, you can try and check the enable low input in DMMDRV, to enable low. The drive will not enable on power up and requires Acorn TO enable it.

That cable you listed will take one to two months to get in. I buy the DB25 connectors and crimpnpins and make my own because you don't use all the pins on the DYN4.

Also, I just proved that a line reactor from Automation direct is a good piece of insurance for power anomalies. One reactor sized properly can take car of 3-4:drives. I put it ahead of the Estop contactor.

I already have the cable. I don’t know why they say it takes so long. Came in a few days.

I’ve used line reactors and filters on my machines and will be on the new lathe.

Just one line reactor and one filter or several small ones.

I use one line reactor and filter for the motor power for all DYN4 drives. And, an individual 1A filter for each drive's logic input. I power the logic separately so I don't lose fault info on a drive fault.
