Ok so is anyone else having to re-home their machine every time they load a job?
Edit:
It's not setting the home position no matter what. I guess I have some troubleshooting to do.
Edit 2:
I think it's because of how I had my proximity sensors set up in 4.12 as home/limit for each axis. Does this seem like it would cause the machine to not store the home position after it backs off each axis?

Post a YouTube video of the homing action starting with the "press cycle start" message

Will do Gary, first thing in the morning I'm already done for the day.

Thank you very much,

Dan

Here's the home file in case something is obviously wrong.

Dan M wrote: Mon Mar 18, 2019 10:34 pm Just got around to the install, and the problem I just ran into is the Max Rate is out side of the valid range of 0-471. Here's a screenshot side by side with the old settings. I read somewhere else someone had the same problem, but I haven't found the thread yet.

Dan
Dan,
the wizard is doing error checking for you, if you are getting an error message saying max rate is out of range ...the max rate you are typing in is impossible to achieve with the the steps per rev and the step rate combined with the overall turns ratio...

looking at the screen shot ...on this system the steps per rev is thru the roof!! why so high?

and please follow forum protocol and post a FRESH report.zip file when posting.
and screen shots of the wizard i/o , homing and axis configuration menus.

here is the math the Wizard is doing for you on the rate checking

your system is set to

- 200,000 steps per second step freq.
- 25465 steps per rev
- 1.0186 axis motor revolution per inch

so, lets calculate how fast your machine can go...

25000 steps per rev x 1.0186 turns per inch = 25465 steps per inch

so...at the step frequency you are using

200,000 steps per second x 60 seconds = 12,000,000 steps per minute

12,000,000 steps per minute divided by 25465 steps per inch = 471.23 inches per minute.

if you want to go faster than 471.23 ipm reduce the steps per rev and set the drive hardware settings to match. I suggest you read this post for more info on this.
viewtopic.php?f=63&t=1801

as a lot of guys have been corrupted by the way Mach and others have mixed up the overall turns ratio and the steps per rev parameters into one.

Mine did this. After I rebooted everything I changed it back to my previous values.
if you enter a number out of range of possibility the Wizard reverts to default setting. see my post above for wizard range checking explanation.

It's working now Keith. I'm running 400,000 steps and for some reason the Acorn needed to be cycled for the wizard to pick up the new value. After I cycled the Acorn, it picked up the new value of 400,000 and let me enter the 900ipm like I had before. The new G214v go all the way up to 51,200 micro steps, because of the full step morphing of the Geckos I haven't experienced any lost steps or lost torque just very smooth and quiet stepper motion.

Now I just need to figure out what I'm doing wrong with the homing. I think it's what you or Gary were telling me before that I will need to modify the home file. 4.12 allowed me to use a different input for each sensor and assign them home/limit it's not working on 4.14. The weird thing is it goes through the program fine and picks up the soft limit's, but doesn't set the home position.

Any way I'm going to post the video for Gary and I will put up the zip file in a while. I always use my phone for the forum since I can't use my CNCPC with the internet while the machine is powered up.

Edit:
One more thing to note is that after the home cycle, that even though it says Machine Home Not Set the soft limit's work. Prior to running the home cycle the machine will trip the limit switches.

As always thank you for your help,

Dan

This is some information on the Wizard not opening from within CNC12. The Wizard will open and work when opened from File Explorer but will not open when the wizard button is pushed in the utility page.https://youtu.be/9F8bNQVoNmA
