Did you happen to see this post on Tuning the VFD?

Do you have the lathe pro software installed or lathe FREE?
Lathe Pro is required for Constant Surface Speed.

Would like to get information on the encoder if possible.

Marty,

Thanks for the reply. I do have the “Pro” version. I tried tuning the spindle according to your previous post, but I can’t get the Hz to match. I.e. I would like the max RPM to be 1650. I set the VFD freq to 128.35 to get 1650 using the manual VCP but the freq while running was 122.7Hz with 10V output from the Acorn. If I change the freq to 122.7 the RPM drops accordingly. Once I set the Max RPM to 1650 the 100% RPM is ~950 vs the expected 825.

Thanks again for your support, any recommendations would be appreciated

Dale,

Attached is the product description of the ring encoder.

Marty,

As I continue to work through this I was able to get the commanded vs actual speeds fairly close by including a min speed for CNC12 as well as min volts and freq at the VFD.

My problem now as mentioned earlier, is there are no speed changes during the execution of a program. i.e. using the Encoder Pawn example, there are no changes to speed even though the program is commanding a S350, the spindle remains full speed and the output is always 10 volts.

When MDI each command, i.e. M3 S500, M3 S640, etc the system responds as it should.

I've attached a current report from today.

But you can go into MDI and call M3S500
M3S1000, S1600 etc and it is working?

Correct. I’ll make a little video

This is only with the PAWN file? Constant Surface speed might be too high for your lathe in the G code file. I "think" its set to 2000rpm

Here's a couple of short videos...

I'm a newbie, so I'm not sure of the code, but the Encoder Pawn program starts at S2000 then has a couple of different commands, one of them being S350.
