Re: No motor movement
MDI won't start because cnc12 is in a FAULT condition.
message box says 327 Fault Job cancelled
and reset button says press to clear on it

Click that big red Reset button that says tripped on the monitor. Nothing going to happen until you reset it.

Re: No motor movement
Why dose my controller not respond to my driver. I pinged controller and shows connection. Normally when a driv is picked I get green light. At this time I do not get a green light with motor movement.

Re: No motor movement
Kutton,
Are you sure you do not have your ESTOP button pressed? When you press the big RED button on CNC12 the errors should clear. No motor movement will happen if CNC12 is showing an error. The other thing to check on your stepper drivers is they have an enable signal, if so make sure that is setup so it enables the drivers.

Re: No motor movement
How come I do not get green light on motor driver when I try to move axis?

Re: No motor movement
This may have been asked before, but can you put the wizard setting to "Bench Test", connect 1 motor and see if you can make it work?

Re: No motor movement
Kutton,
I think what you have wrong is the fact you do not have the ENA- lead wired to the enable output on the Acorn. The enable is what allows the stepper driver to put power to the motors. When you enable the driver the GREEN led will light up. It still will not move unless you send it pulses, but my guess is you have not wired the enable lead. You can not just put the +5V lead to the ENA+ you also need to connect ENA- to the Acorn Enable output for each drive. I have attached the schematic manual so you can better understand. The ENA+ and ENA- signals go to an optocoupler in the drive. Think of it as just an LED light, if you put power to one side of a light it will not light up right. Now that is what you have done, you have the ENA+ connected to five volts but until you connect the other end the light will not light. Does this help?

Re: No motor movement
On the leadshine schematic it dose not show enable being used. Can you suggest best wiring schematic I should use.

Re: No motor movement
Unless they are enabled by default it would be required.
A very simple test you can do in a few minutes is to take a ground wire and connect it to the ENA- signal post on any of your drivers. Does the green LED turn on?
When using Acorn if you wire up enables, what happens is the Green LED will not be on after you enable the Acorn controller. But as soon as you go to jog a given axis, the Acorn sends out the enable- signal and the motors start to move.
Before you try to jog you have no error messages on Acorn correct?
