Parametric g-code is done also, just touching off the Z height of the drill and happy grinding

No waste of axes now on my mill, all six are in use, but still wasting two axes on my lathe

Pretty cool what can be done with Centroid DIY CNC even without CAM.

I am only a user scratching the surface of CNC12.

If I look at the PLC code ore some of Centroids probing macros, I still feel to be dumb

You managed to get that dialled in to produce an apex point, very nice 8-)

What angles are you using for the general setup? Something like 130deg point, 10deg primary facets at and secondary at 25deg as per your 5 axis video?

120-130 is ok for most HSS drills, for carbide drills 140 / 6 / 25

Thanks, and with the 5 axis version setup how did you align the drill rotationally on it's axis vs height, because as you grind in Z the drill twist moves the facet widths?

For a 4 facet grind, the drill is not turned while grinding, but if the drill is not in the centerline of the a axis, you have four different XY positions.

For thinning out the tip, the drill must be turned.

Setup rearranged to grind Applitec Swiss inserts from 2.5 to 1 to 1.5mm so they can be used for cut off and turning.

G-Code is pretty simple, setup the grinding angles, touch off Z and X, parameter for depth and depth per cut, happy grinding

Not more to do than on a manual machine, but this one is doing its thing alone...

Very nice, and the grinding wheel too 8-)

For small grooving and turning like piston ring grooves I use German Simtek stuff, they do some very nice micro turning tools if you didn't already know of them:

The E12 goes from 0.4mm wide upwards, one toolholder a few inserts you are well set.
