It was working flawlessly, then suddenly started asking for username and password to access the shared folder. As a newbie... I tend to make changes in Fusion as I work on a project, so sharing files in this fashion is a big plus.

I am a bit confused with the NAS option. I understand that it works like a hard drive that is shareable across the network, but in order to have access to the NAS, I would have to connect to the network via WIFI on the CNC12 machine. Once connected to WIFI, the machine would be once again connected to the internet. What is the secret?
Your Wi-Fi router may be able to mange more than one Wi-Fi network.

The NAS would be cabled to the network router by Ethernet and typically powered on at all times.

Using two WiFi networks:
For example:
set up one WiFi network called "House" for internet and all devices in the home. "house login password"
Set up another WiFi network for CNC12PC called "Shop". "Shop login password different than house WiFi login". Block all internet traffic in the router for the 'Shop' Wi-Fi network.

CNC12 would access WiFi on 'Shop' WiFi and Wi-Fi router would block all internet traffic from 'Shop' WiFi network.
The NAS would be accessible to the CNC12 PC since it is on the local network and connected to the Router before the internet port, not internet access. Your Fusion 360 computer will be able to access it as well and the cloud/internet.
When your CNC12 PC needs to access the internet, disconnect 'Shop' WiFi and connect to "House" with 'House Network Password'. When you no longer need internet, log off and connect back to 'Shop' WiFi.

It's not as hard to do or complicated as it sounds.

There are alot of videos on YT that explain how to do this for IOT devices to keep them on a separate network or sub-net.

If I can't get the Bluetooth approach to work, my backup plan is to use something like a travel router with a USB port to establish a second WIFI. I can then plug a flash drive into the USB port on the router. This WIFI will not be connected to the internet but allow me to share files between the two PC's.

Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N5 ... 0DER&psc=1

There is one problem.... Then I can't stream YouTube Music on the Fusion PC while running jobs :(

I just realized when the problem occurred. I updated the driver for the eithernet adapter to resolve a communication error with CNC12. No more communication errors!

But, now I can no longer share files between the two computers via Bluetooth. When I try to share files, I am promoted for a username and password to access the file.

The files were being stored on the Windows 10 CNC12 machine and accessed by the windows 11 Fusion machine.

Any thoughts on this?

Is this a third party program controlling the Bluetooth transfer or is it a built in Windows feature?

If it is a Windows feature, then it may be asking you to log in to a Microsoft account or to log in using credentials established on the other computer. May be in the settings for the Bluetooth transfer feature or something.

SOLVED - Thanks for suggesting that I just enter the username and password. I have been using Bluetooth to transfer files for quite some time. Never had to enter a password. I setup file sharing in Windows so I would not need a password. I keep the CNC12 pc disconnected from the internet, but I connected for a bit, and it must have done an update. The beautiful world of windows! Suddenly it was asking for a password which I assumed was in error.

All is working great now. In my humble opinion, this is simply the best way to transfer g-code to CNC12. It is native to Windows; most PC have Bluetooth (Can be added with a cheap dongle) and more than fast enough for g-code sized files. It is practically instantaneous.

Better yet it is easier and less risky than configuring a firewall for a NAS. All you do is pair each PC, setup a hotspot on one of them to share files via Bluetooth, make sure windows is setup for file sharing and you may actually have to enter username & password.

Here is my original post on how to set it up Bluetooth for file sharing:

Google drive has been a good solution for me. I just download the app on all my CNCPC's and pc's i do cam on. By default it only stores files in the cloud so i set them to store locally. I store all my .nc ,backup and post processors there.

This is really good for me since i like to do my cad/cam at home.
