Is there a parameter to reverse my encoder (on the spindle) direction? Its showing - when spinning forward. Might be fine, looking at the manual, so many parameters and would prefer not to mess with the wiring. Thanks.

11.4.26 Parameter 34 – Spindle Encoder Counts/Rev
This parameter controls the counts-per-revolution for the spindle encoder. Input from the spindle encoder is required
for the spindle-slaved movements used in the Rigid Tapping cycles. If the encoder counts up when running CW (M3),
the value of this parameter must be positive. If the encoder counts up when running CCW (M4), the value of this
parameter must be negative.

Many thanks.

I may need to mess around with direction. My lathe's orientation is that it spins CCW on M3 (I changed the 3 phase motor output). Let me do some more reading about orientation before trying to 'fix' the encoder direction.

M3 must be CW, even if you need M4 CCW for turning.
P1=1 Horizontal Rear is the orientation for the Emco 320

And of course, "CW" and "CCW" are judged as you look at the lathe from the headstock end (behind the spindle, just as if you were holding a hand drill).
They are not judged from the viewpoint of the operator, looking at the face of the chuck.
M3/CW is the direction you would need to run to drill with a standard right-handed twist drill.

Thanks both. Yep, mine is currently running CCW (on M3). So do I swap wires and use M4 or does the orientation setting as per Uwe 'correct' that?
Ill try it later once this horrible UK weather passes today.

The orientation is not affecting the CW/CCW only the direction of the X Axis and the backplot.

Ok, thanks.

Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the Sauter ATC on these? Ive got a manual for it and the machine's wiring but I am uncertain on a few wires and not keen to damage anything. I've rung everything out and can see which wires go where.
I've got the 3 phase supply wires for the ATC motor, have run it forward and reverse but the 4 bit encoder system isnt changing status. There's also a few other wires, some of which should be sensors and/or solenoids but wouldnt mind checking with someone that's wired one up before.
This is the 4 bit system. Would you agree that wire 28 (far right hand side is 24V+)?
Then, this is the turret index control page.
Wire 29 (far left) is 24V+?
Wire 1 (midway) is 24V+
Wire 2 (midway) is GND
What does wire 33 do? I don't recognise the symbol, is it a proximity sensor?
The working principle page is below, might help explain.
I should have one solenoid and two proximity sensors.
