I'd like to keep the original Siemens simodrive 611 system, which, from what I've read in this thread, is possible. However, I have a question, since I understand that this DMU eVo Linear model uses linear servomotors. Will the OAK controller be able to run this axis control configuration?

I checked in with the other engineering staff and the verdict is that we do not recommend this.

There is a model of Simodrive 611 control board (611 universal) that will work with the Oak but only in velocity mode.

We have no concerns with running linear motors with position mode drives. Velocity mode is a different control loop that requires tuning in CNC12 and we have not tested it with linear motors. Since we have not tested it, we cannot do more than speculate how it will perform and we anticipate some issues.

Personally, I think your best chance is to find a Siemens drive capable of running those motors that the Oak can control in position mode.
