That's really just a large pitch thread with a large root flat. Grind your tool right and it shouldn't be a problem; especially since you don't have to make the mating thread.

I usually mill these kinds of self cutting threads.

M3 threads with Kyocera 16ER050ISO PR1115 inserts at 2000rpm.
