Easy way to make internal profiles on a mill or lathe.

Re: Rotary Broaching
I have a rotary broach tool I use for EN36 gears, putting 1/2" square in the centre. it works well but I find I have to use huge tailstock force to drive it in hard enough to create the peeling effect. Maybe the hex takes out less material, its a tool I think I should use more but the cost of the tools is quite high from the place in the UK I got the head from, so to be honest I still fall back to conventional broaching quite often for through holes.

Re: Rotary Broaching
It is working with TORX also.
You can also use the broaching tool on the mill.
For square hole I use broaching with C-Axis and small steps, repeat four times 90 deg.

Re: Rotary Broaching
Where do you buy your tooling from for the rotary broach? My head unit is a Tangi-flow:
https://www.tangi-flow.com/
So I've always bough from them, but as mentioned never been overwhelmed with performance from it despite the high cost

Re: Rotary Broaching
I get them, if cheap is ok from Ali, if I want quality, or custom sizes from Wittmann:

Re: Rotary Broaching
Thanks all, maybe I should revisit that toolholder with some different tip tooling, good excuse to make use of it again
