Got the spindle working aswell. Yet again many thanks for centroid467. All the wirings worked like a charm.

I also got the parking makro edited and that works now too.

I have now tweaked the base settings and I think the machine is pretty much ready to start working. Backlash was under 0.03mm per axis and backslash compensation seems to work pretty nicely. Was a breeze to set up.

I have some final steps to finish with cabinet before I can move it to its designated place. I’ll try to fix up a short youtube video at some point to give some idea of what has been done so far with the machine.

Rgds

Can someone enlighten me why is the +12V (in this schematic) brought to OUT1 relay and then wired to OUT4 with a jumper where laser enable is assigned? Wouldn’t it work the same if +12V were connected straight to OUT4 relay thus saving one output?

And is it really mandatory to physically cut the output ribbon cable leading to output #2 signal if PWM is employed in db25 connector pin 14? ( output 2 can’t just be left empty but has to have ribbon cable modified?)

Because relay is the no-fault out relay. It is energized when no faults exist in the system. The wiring insures that the laser can only be turned on when no faults exist in the system.

Without that, you could have an X-axis drive fail, and the laser could continue to burn whatever was under the output.
Cheers,

Tom

I have CDO. It's like OCD, but the letters are where they should be.

If you do not cut the ribbon to OUT2 the relay will flicker at PWM frequency....

Okay, since last post I have made my first part with CNC. Super happy with that. I have zero cad experience and no cad software (yet). So I did look into Intercon and made a short programm following the tutorials and examples.

I am liking this one so far. And eager to get learning new stuff but before that I am making finishing touches on the machine to get it installed in the designated area. I am also pretty much fed up woth all the wiring work but try to finish it with last push so it wont be left unfinished. I worked the cooling fans in with a thermostat and on/off switch into my modified rear cover and got an opt laser laser head wired up and ready for installation on the machine.

Also did the first window installation on yhe other side. What a pain in the ass. Took forever but it went in woth a bit of determination. I have to admit I was almost cryimg at one point 😂
