Re: Hardinge HNC Reduex 2
Decided to go with CNC12 V 5.30
Sounded like it would be the easiest route.
Installed software, License with no issues. Restored and older Report from CNC11 V3.14
Running through the TT-4 Setup procedure with Oak/Allin1DC
Steps 1 through 5 completed with positive results.
Step 6 says to press Reset to Clear from the CNC12 home screen . Evidently that has changed since the document was written. I assume that just making sure the machine was homed is good enough?
Step 7 wants me to go to F1 Z ref....no such thing on my screen I'm afraid. F3 Auto Measure is missing as well from Step 8 and 10.
I get it that docs sometimes lag behind, or did my install go awry?
I have added some pictures showing some of the discrepancies from setting the Parameters found in this document. I set what I could confirm as properly matched.

Re: Hardinge HNC Reduex 2
I think one issue is those instructions are assuming a Mill install rather than a Lathe install. We probably should have lathe specific instructions.
I believe P244 should be set to 50769.
You may also want to set P281 and P282.
I'm looking into how the setup is supposed to go with 5.30 and lathe TT. Should have the correct info soon.

Re: Hardinge HNC Reduex 2
The CNC12 5.30 Lathe manual is correct on the parameter setup. See section 5.13 here: https://www.centroidcnc.com/centroid_di ... df#page=82
Try following the steps in there to set up the Z reference tool and so on.

This is assuming you've just opened the CNC12 software, so cycling the RESET button and homing.
Step 7 wants me to go to F1 Z ref....no such thing on my screen I'm afraid. F3 Auto Measure is missing as well from Step 8 and 10.
The install manual unfortunately only has info on doing this with a Mill.
For a Lathe go to F1 Setup > F2 Tool Offset > Select the Z Offset number > F1 Z Ref
I get it that docs sometimes lag behind, or did my install go awry?

Ahh, a lathe setup manual...I had not found that. Will report back soon. Thanks.centroid467 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 21, 2025 10:00 am The CNC12 5.30 Lathe manual is correct on the parameter setup. See section 5.13 here: https://www.centroidcnc.com/centroid_di ... df#page=82

Re: Hardinge HNC Reduex 2
Getting close
Set P18 = 50772
P244 = 50769
P257 = 50772
P281 = .75
P282 = .1
P283 = .15
P405 = 3 (TT-2)
P407 = 1
Tried performing an Auto measure of Z REF. I get the error '918 Probe unable to detect surface'

Re: Hardinge HNC Reduex 2
Question...Where does the 50 come from when looking at Inputs like 50772 ?

Re: Hardinge HNC Reduex 2
It is the identifier for a variable that has the value of what the input is reading. The variable is the same as would be used in macros.
You can see it in the variable list in the CNC12 manual on this page: https://www.centroidcnc.com/centroid_di ... f#page=162
I'm not sure you need both probe detect input and TT detect input set. What happens if you set P18 = 0?
Also, TT-2 is not what you have. If there is no TT-4 setting, then set P405 = 0 for mechanical.
Since you have a TT-4, you should have the inverting cable. This means that the ALLIN1DC sees the probe as closed when tripped. P407 should be set to 0.

Re: Hardinge HNC Reduex 2
P18 = 0
Same error.
plus
P405 = 0
Same error.
plus
P407 =0 (Noted that the INP769 LED under Alt-I still shows Green when tripped)
Same error.
