Z axis/ THC movements

Post by cardin3 »

I was running a job yesterday. A job that was much larger than anything I've run in the past, quarter inch thick steel total cutting time was 30 minutes. I observed the z-axis moving very quickly in very small movements. THC was working pretty well all in all, I'm just wondering what THC setting I should adjust to settle down the many small z adjustment moves. I attached a short video of the z-axis coupling and I also attached a photo of my THC settings. I will also include a fresh report.

Turning the THC Max Velocity to something like 1-15ipm should smooth out the z reaction.

Thanks I'll try that.

i am very interested in the outcome of your experiments. What feedrate are you using for your Z axis? it seems like it is moving pretty quickly

Currently it is set to 500 IPM. I believe that was the default. I'm going to lower it to something around 10 IPM to see the difference. I'll post when I get some results.

I slowed it down to 10 in per minute without much change on the z axis movement. I slowed it down to 1 inch per minute That definitely made a difference I'll attach a video.
