How to open a .nc file? <Answered>
Hi, I have CNC12 acorn router V4.64. I am working with the 'free' software. My tool path programming experience is limited to intercon (.icn file format). Recently I tried to load a .nc program created by Fusion (using the centroid post-processor) however, CNC12 will only load .icn format. Is this a limitation of the free hobby version or am I missing something? Thank you in advance for any help. -Ken

Re: How to open a .nc file?
If you load from the "F2" Load Job key on the main screen of the control you can load a *.CNC, *.TXT, *.NC file.
Not from inside ICN..

Re: How to open a .nc file?
Pls install the current 5.28 version
The G-code will open if loaded with F6 Edit G-code in the main screen.
Install NP++ as editor is recommended.

Re: How to open a .nc file?
You may need to take a moment in Windows File Explorer to tell Windows to use your text editor (e.g. Notepad++) as the application to open .nc files. Until you do so, the F6/Edit key will not work.
In File Explorer, right-click on a file with the desired extension (e.g. a ".nc" file); choose "Open with..."; if necessary, click "choose another app"; browse to Notepad++; and also be sure to check the "Always use this app to open .xxx files" box.

Re: How to open a .nc file?
Thank you for the guidance, F2 / main screen worked. I was trying to load .nc from 'inside' intercon.

Re: How to open a .nc file?
intercon loads intercon programs .ICN
intercon creates G code programs
interesting to note
if you load a G code program in CNC12 with F2 Load and it came from Intercon and the Intercon version of that same part still exists Intercon will automatically load it for you when you start Intercon
