CNC software version 11 to 12 upgrade

Post by lwaldner89 »

Good day..... I have a large cnc router set up with a ALLIN1DC controller.

The computer is running CNC11 MILL 3.05

Is there a simple way of upgrading the software to version 12?

Or would I have to configure all the settings again from scratch?

You can (almost) simply install the current version as an update over your existing version. It would be a good idea to save a Report, and/or a backup of the entire c:\cncm directory tree, before updating.

But important: since you are coming from a version earlier than CNC11 v3.06, you need to download and install the v3.06 update, and run it at least once so that your MPU firmware gets updated to 3.06. Then you can go ahead and install CNC12 v5.24 over the top of v3.06.

The only reason you would need to start fresh, or at least merge your old configuration and PLC programming with new, is if you want to use new features that are dependent on newer PLC programming, such as:
- Ability to invert and force inputs and outputs on the Alt-i PLC Diagnostic display
- Use of the on-screen "Virtual Control Panel" (the old keyboard jogging features still work as before, though)
- Use of a wireless MPG handwheel pendant
- SSV and FRV features.

FYI: to update to a current CNC12 version (or any CNC12 version newer than v4.14) you will need to purchase a software license. In your case it would be the "Legacy Pro" upgrade, for $299.
