WMPG LOST RF causes and solutions

1.) USB Antenna too close! move the antenna further than 3-4 feet away from the WMPG pendant!
2.) USB Antenna is plugged into some other usb port other than one plugged directly into the mother board. (do not use USB hubs!)
3.) Windows usb port assignment problems. Uninstall and reboot windows so it will pick up the USB antenna and assign a fresh USB port id.
4.) use of a laptop that is shutting down the usb port to save power. do not use laptops or drill into the laptop bios and turn off all power saving features (not just Windows power save features you have to do both Bios and Windows on a lot of laptops! )
5.) Do NOT use rechargeable batteries in the mpg. (use regular AA alkaline batteries, rechargeable and lithium batteries have in compatible voltage)
6.) Use a Black USB2 port on the PC if you have one.
7.) Run the Centroid CNC PC tuner to set the CNC PC windows settings correctly for CNC use!
and review all the settings in TB309

8.) Pro License file installed? CNC12 requires a Pro License file installed.
9.) WMPG setup in the Wizard? make sure to select WMPG type in the Acorn/AcornSix/Hickory Wizard OR setup via CNC12 parameters following the setup documentation.

Went through everything and nothing worked. I should note that previously the only thing I would see are the lines in the position coordinates under XYZA. When I removed all the unused drivers I actually got position numbers in those fields but the unit still did not work. When I unplugged the USB wireless dongles and plugged it back in and turned on the MPG the field were blank again.

The difference between XYZ letters with lines and XYZ letters with numbers is probably not important. That just depends on whether machine home has been set yet.

The difference between XYZ letters with lines or numbers, and no XYZ letters at all is more significant. That depends on whether the MPG software is communicating with the CNC12 software.

If in doubt, post a picture (or two or three) showing the WMPG display under each condition.
