Re: Rigid Tapping Trouble
Keith,
Thanks for the replies. Attached are the mill pictures and encoder pictures. As the mill has a QC30 tool system the encoder is mounted on the top of the main spindle shaft. Under the black cover in the image. The encoder box and part number is in another image. With the mill running clockwise the spindle shows a positive direction and when spinning counter clockwise a negative direction. I have also attached another report file, a new ICN file and a new tapping test revised 10-32.cnc file it created all from the mill machine computer.
The results are the same as before in screen capture image attached spindle slave position error.
I do hope this helps close in on the trouble. I did see your Wizzard settings for the encoder -8000 but if the display is correct for RPM and direction what would changes do? I am perfectly happy to change it but belive the CW will turn to negative numbers and CCW to positive.
Thanks in advance to all.
PFM Dave

Re: Rigid Tapping Trouble
Update:
For fun I changed the spindle setting to -8000, as expected when running clockwise it displayed an incorrect -RPM. Running the tap program got the same error. I returned the setting to 8000. Trying to not leave any stone un-turned.
Regards,
PFM Dave

Re: Rigid Tapping Trouble
With a negative value in P34, was the behavior exactly the same (e.g. did the Z axis move DOWN, from Z+0.500" to ca. Z+0.160", before the cycle stopped with a "438 Spindle slave position error")?
Or, with a negative value in P34, did Z instead move UP, to something higher than Z+0.500", before the cycle stopped with a "438 Spindle slave position error"?

Re: Rigid Tapping Trouble
CCCSW,
The mill had the same behavior, Z down towards top of hole and stopped same error. Only change was rotation was displayed as a negative RPM.
Thanks again,
PFM Dave

Re: Rigid Tapping Trouble
when you rotate the spindle at the nose CW which direction does the shaft going up to the encoder turn?

Re: Rigid Tapping Trouble
Keith,
As it is effectively the same shaft the encoder also turns clockwise.

Dave,
are you still getting the same error message or is something new stopping you?

Re: Rigid Tapping Trouble
At this point i would
1.) Open the Wizard press CTRL P, save the PDF to desktop, post it here.
2.) Reinstall and reconfigure CNC12 using the information in the PDF. (might as well install the latest version of CNC12 while you are at it)
https://www.centroidcnc.com/centroid_di ... loads.html
and follow. https://www.centroidcnc.com/centroid_di ... meters.pdf

Re: Rigid Tapping Trouble
Keith,
Same error message. Sent pics of everything as requested. The encoder is attached at the top of the spindle. QC30 so I do not have a bar in the top.
Still stuck. Looking for options to at least try.
Thanks again,
PFM Dave
