I am trying to run my first job after loading V5.20 and I get a fault after CHIPS completes the moveable and fixed TT routine. When the spindle is on its way home at the end of the fixed TT touchoff the spindle does not stop at its home position and the spindle motor faults. The machine has been homed numerous times successfully since the upgrade so it seems the home sensor and motor are working as they should.
All help is appreciated

Re: Driver fault 237 CHIPS
from the error log.
looks like the TT is not configured properly?
also i dont' like those MPU/PC resend errors.
see for more info on how to solve.

Re: Driver fault 237 CHIPS
cnckeith thank you for your hellp. These are the results from this mornings tests.
1-looks like the TT is not configured properly? Those errors occur anytime I plug/unplug my TT device. I should not have used a phono plug for the connector. I will replace the connector
2-also i dont' like those MPU/PC resend errors. I ran the stress test multiple times this morning but no errors occurred and I saw none in the error log
this morning. PFM I guess
I tried running the job again and I received the same result as yesterday. CHIPS left the fixed touchoff plate and the spindle traveled beyond home and a 327 fault resulted. The job is attached along with report.
CNC12 machine coordinates show the spindle at X+.7500 Y+.5500 exactly where the program at line 330 commanded.
However it also commanded Z to go to Z3.0300.
these are the machine coordinates shown on the display at the tie of the fault X=+.7500 Y=+.5500 Z=+1.2501
This is the first job that I tried to run since V5.20 was loaded.

Re: Driver fault 237 CHIPS
A good starting point would be to enter the software travel limit (available inches, minus from home) for your Z axis.
That won't fix the problem, but it should give you a more meaningful error message -- perhaps showing a file and line number -- instead of just running into the hard stops and faulting the drive.

Re: Driver fault 237 CHIPS
Line 31 in your program (N310) is suspicious. Why would you be trying to rapid your cutter to 7.03" above Z part zero? If the objective is to be at a maximum clearance height, you would usually use G28 or M25, not a position that is dependent on part location and tool height.

Re: Driver fault 237 CHIPS
Are you using the latest version of CHIPS 2.2?
If you are using ATC are you using Swissi's modified mfunc6.mac?
Did you follow the CHIPS guide to set up CHIPS for your level of SW?

Re: Driver fault 237 CHIPS
V2.20 Chips is loaded
I did not see line 31. Good catch. I only have approx 5.2" above Z0 to Zhome. This job is a bowl file purchased on line. I will try. another file that I have previously run that is good.
Thanks guys

Re: Driver fault 237 CHIPS
CNCSNW I will be able to modify travel limit for Z tomorrow PM but am unsure of the proper input. I am guessing something like Zhome+.060. I have very small movement beyond Z home sensor before hard stop. I could move sensor or flag to increase a small amount. Please correct me if I am wrong.
Thanks

Re: Driver fault 237 CHIPS
Problem resolved. I changed a move command at line line 31 to a lower number to prevent Z from going beyond home. I also had to make a similar change in one of the other files for this project. I thank everyone for all of their expertise. No other changes made
