Jogging feed from tool check (Lathe)

Post by Aurelien »

Good morning.

Since updating to version 5.2 I noticed that I could no longer reduce the feed with the MPG remote control from the tool check position to the G54 position.

This only happens when launching a machining program.

Once the g54 position is reached it works perfectly.

Is there a way to fix this?

I find it quite dangerous.
When launching a new machining program, I like to go slowly to make sure everything goes well

Just set rapid on the VCP to 25% or less...

I have set up Macro3 Button to set Rapid to 25% and Macro4 Button to Rapid 100% on my WMPG.

Doesn't the MPG crank in the feed position have the same function as if I pressed the 25% button directly?
For me it is more logical and I also feel much safer having my hands on the crank to manage the movement from the G28 position.
This was the case in my old version V4.62 and it was really perfect on this point.

I know that my questions may sometimes seem stupid, but with the language barrier (even with an often haphazard translator it's not easy). I don't come from a machining background, so I'm trying to learn as best I can.

Thank you for your help Uwe.

Older CNC12 versions (and CNC11, CNC10 and CNC7) had a single override, which applied to feedrate moves and also to rapid moves and jogging moves, provided "rapid override" mode was turned on (which was the default).

Newer CNC12 versions have the option for separate feedrate override and rapid override settings. When separate overrides are used, the feedrate override does not affect rapid moves.

Someone more familiar than me with the newer PLC program and VCP skins should address this. But, my understanding is that if you select a VCP skin that includes the word "rapid" in the name, then you will have separate overrides. If that is the case, then you should be able to restore the previous behavior by selecting a VCP skin that does not have a separate rapid override setting.

correct, both methods are support and supplied.

Yeah, I forgot the old version is still there.

For setting up new parts with new tools I prefer to reduce only the rapid rate.

Hello everyone.

After a few tests in MDI mode I just understood the usefulness of the "RAPID/FEED" button
Coming from the old version 4.62, I didn't immediately notice this button and understand its uses.
Everything is now very clear, thank you all.

If I may, a modifiable parameter to act on this in the cnc12 configurations would be really appreciated.
by this I mean that I would like to be able to choose whether the "RAPID/FEED" button acts on both parameters at the same time as was the case on 4.62 or on one or the other as is the case cases currently with 5.20

For macros, I see lots of people with interested macros, it would be great to have a database of macros somewhere.
