ATC - Rachet / Pawl, no sensors - Macro

Post by Chaz »

A long time ago I fit a turret to my Harrison M300. A lot has changed since then and the way we did the macro for it was hacky to say the least.

viewtopic.php?f=60&t=1544&p=9607#p9607

Based on the current method of doing Macros and ATC, would we still do the 'A Axis' trick or is there a better way to do the coding for this? I'd like to reuse the same turret on an Orac that I have.

Thanks

Just checking the older threads, this might be the best way to do this (the code that Chris put out once the roll over bug was sorted)?

Hello Chaz,

The "Axis Based Turret" is still an option for Lathe ATC. The Macro from those older threads has seen a few updates since, there should be no issue with using it. Also, the Wizard has been updated to handle some of these Turret types with an ATC page, i would give setting up the Axis Based turret that way first before diving into editing the macro.

Its also not your only option, there are PLC based solutions as well such as our "Gray Code" and "Counter" Turret logic in the PLC. These use an output to rotate the turret and inputs for PLC to determine current turret location, instead of a macro handling an axis.

Thanks. Appreciated. Just checking, you are referring the built in PLC, not 3rd party, correct?

Ive also just picked up 2 x Emco 120 and an Emco 320 which will need more complex logic applied. Did get some experience with the Denford ATC I did before which was fairly painful. That said, some of the info is still fresh in my mind, so might not be too bad but let's see.

Thanks

yes, its all backed into the Acorn. no 3rd party plc or plc program needed.
