Stepperonline wiring for CL57T drive to ACORN CNC controller
Looking for wiring schematic for drive CL57T-V41 by Stepperonline? I found CL57Y but signal labels are different? I have 4 closed loop Nema 23 motors with 5:1 gearboxes on Axes X1, X2 and Y. Axis X1 and Axis X2 actuators (belt driven Festo EGC-HD-125-400-TB-OH-GK actuators) are driven by nema 23 motors with 5:1 gearboxes and mechanically tied together. Y axis is same Festo actuator as X axes and has same motor and drive with 5:1 gearbox. Z Axis is a ball screw actuator with same Nema 23 motor and drive.
According to Acorn_Rev4, Stepperonline CL57Y Drive schematic I found here on Acorn forum, my understanding (very limited in electrical wiring btw) is that a 24V + signal from H9 connector on Acorn controller is feeding the PUL+, DIR+ and the MF+ terminals on the drive. I have 4 drives so that 24V+ signal from H9 connector is connected to Wago terminal blocks & jumpered so that I can wire to each drive. CL57T drive doesn't have MF+ and MF-terminals. I have a 24V+ wire from wago terminal blocks going to the ENA+ terniinal on drive. The same 24V+ wire is also connected to home and limit switches to IN1 and IN2 of H4 connector. I don't have home or limit switches wired yet but wiring 2 switches for X1, (I don't need home switch or limit switch for X2 as its mechanically connected to X1), 2 switches for Y and 2 switches for Z all in series seems like a rats nest of wiring coming my way? Furthermore, I have read that using 3 wire solidstate switches is bad. mechanical switches are bad for voltage drop in series...not sure what is best for switches anymore.
Sorry for such a long explanation and many challenges but I appreciate the help anyone get provide!

I will start my build thread soon!! Sorry, I thought I searched this...must not have been in correct spot?cnckeith wrote: ↑Wed Oct 30, 2024 6:04 pm hi, on the Centroid schematics page. search CL57T

The CL57T schematic is using 5V and I'm using 24V dipswitch... so can't I use just use H2 connectors for all signals instead of DB25 (H6) connector?

Re: Stepperonline wiring for CL57T drive to ACORN CNC controller
That is correct. It is not as simple as 5v vs 24v, it's actually 5v line drive (ttl) vs 24v open collector. Most stepper drives, especially the less expensive ones, don't run well on open collector signals.he CL57T schematic is using 5V and I'm using 24V dipswitch... so can't I use just use H2 connectors for all signals instead of DB25 (H6) connector?

Re: Stepperonline wiring for CL57T drive to ACORN CNC controller
CL57T Version 3.0 and up are ok with open collector 3.0 up to 200 khz and from 4.0 up to 500 khz
200 khz with 24V and internal resistor (Dip switch) is also ok

Re: Stepperonline wiring for CL57T drive to ACORN CNC controller
Looks like you didn't use the db25 port and 5v. Good luck with that, but lots of people have tried, failed, and then followed the db25 suggestion.
