Is this new version 5.20 a beta version that expires?

Betas and release candidates have expiry dates.
Cheers,

Install/setup for Acorn Router with BOB went without issue.

I did experience an issue with the SW looking for a Tool Touch Off input when measuring tool offsets.

On my router configuration using an Avid Touch Plate for setting part zero, Z zero I also use it for the fixed touch off on the table at a fixed location.

I was receiving a Probing Cycle Terminated Window for Tool Touch Off Input not configured on P44 when attempting to measure the tool offsets in the tool library. I do not have a fixed tool setter ( on my want list ), I have a fixture to place my Avid plate on the table in a fixed location for the fixed tool offset measurements.

The error was present in CNC12 and also in CHIPS. (screenshot is from running CHIPS measure tool, same window when using the CNC12 function).

I changed Parameter 44 to the same value as the Avid Touch Plate input and resolved the issue.

I was unable to set Tool Touch Off PLC input in Wizard when using Avid Touch Plate.

Now 5.2 is on my machines and tested for a day making parts, no problems and easy peasy to update.

Acorn6 Lathe:

the links in the Util screen are missing.

Smoothing works ok, but it is not in the current manual for lathe.

What exactly are you doing to get this message? The message in your screenshot is a CHIPS message i believe.

In V5.20, When in the tool offset menu Tool/ATC (F5) and use the Auto Measure (F3), it should give you a choice of 3 devices. In your case since you only have a touchplate it should default to using the touchplate automatically. After modifying parameter 44, it will likely give you an option to use the TT or touchplate.

Measuring the tool offset using a fixed location using the Avid TP. The screenshot is of CHIPS, but I received the same error message before installing CHIPS when using CNC12 5.20RC5 when measuring the tool in tool database. I didn't grab a screenshot of the window in CNC12 prior to installing CHIPS. I thought maybe I wouldn't get the error in CHIPS, but I did.

With P044 set to 0.0000, and an Avid TP configured in the Wizard, the message appears and stops measuring the tool offset with the SW or CHIPS at the fixed location and provides the no TT configured on P44. Both ( CNC12 & CHIPS ) are looking for the TT to measure the tools with only a TP configured. Keep in mind I use my movable Avid TP for part zero and also fixed location on the router table.

I don't get an option to choose which one to use when measuring the tool offset. It's looking for the TT on tool measurements in the tool database.

If you have a TP configured for inputs and don't have a TT configured as inputs in the Wizard, there is not an option to choose which PLC input the TT is set to in the Wizard on the TT page. You can configure the TT, but there is not an option to choose which input the TT uses. Likewise if you have the Avid TP configured as a TT in the Inputs, you cannot configure the Avid Plate inputs on the in the Wizard as there are no inputs identified for the TP.

If you take my report attached and change P044 to 0.0000 from the (5007.000 ?) and try to measure a tool offset which has no offset (0.0000) it should reproduce the error when trying to measure tool offsets for the tool database.

With P044 set to the same value as the Avid Input, it works as it should. No choice of which plate to use when measuring tools at a fixed location on the tool database.

I can change P044 back to 0.0000 and grab a screenshot of CNC12 5.20RC5 with the same popup window if you like but it will be tomorrow evening before I can go thru the exercise.

I have restored your report and set P44 to 0. The F3 (Auto Measure) button correctly selects the touchplate Input and uses the touchplate on my setup.

I do not have CHIPS installed.

Picture is what i get when i press F3 (Auto Measure) with your current report, with P44 set to how you had it. Should give you an option for one or the other (It thinks you have a TT since P44 is none-zero, is the reason it gives the option). When P44 is 0, it will skip this dialog and go directly to measuring with the Touch Plate Input.

Initially on the fresh install I did not populate the TT screen in the wizard and only configured the TP screen with PLC inputs ( self populating) set to TP on the input screen.

I did copy over the cnc.tl, cnc.wcs, cnc.ol files from previous versions. Previously I had used the TT on inputs before the TP was an option for the input settings.

The TT page in the Wizard was then populated with the fixed tool location. I did not enter this data in the Wizard. I set the TT type to conductive ( PLC Input blank ), as I had it set in previous versions prior to the TP page in the Wizard. Is it possible that the Wizard populated the TT page from G30P3 in the WCS table or data carried over from the previous files copied over?

After this step is when I started to measure tool offsets and started receiving the error.

I was receiving the error before installing CHIPs. I Installed CHIPS and received the same error.
