Re: Build Thread: Ramsay CNC Plasma Question
Output for plasma is 2 as usual, using 1/2 and 3/4 from below photo for plasma turn on, but when connected to out2 doesn't work.
Output led 2 through Alt i does light when test fired.
Just trying to get cuts before upgrade to thc, so just need to turn the plasma on and off at touch off height.
Reviewed https://www.centroidcnc.com/dealersuppo ... 194.r1.pdf for similar Prime Weld Cut60, this is a Hynade Cut 80.
Any suggestions?

Re: Build Thread: Ramsay CNC Plasma Question
Is there any voltage between pins 1 and 2 on the control signal connector? All the plasma boxes I have looked at so far have internal pull ups for the start input so they can be hooked straight up to a relay.OceanFab wrote: ↑Fri Oct 04, 2024 8:16 am Output for plasma is 2 as usual, using 1/2 and 3/4 from below photo for plasma turn on, but when connected to out2 doesn't work.

Re: Build Thread: Ramsay CNC Plasma Question
Pin's 1/2 on the Hyde should be connected to the Acorn relay board on output 2 for turning the Torch on and off.
Pin's 3/4 On the Hyde should be connected to the Acorn's assigned ARC OK input.
Can you Take some pictures of How the Hydes PIN 1/2 are connected to the 8 output relay board?
When Torch on Is assigned in the Wizard to output 2 and you select test fire on the VCP does the output 2 relay audibly click?
You should be able to connect Hydes pin 1/2 and to verify the plasma cutter fires.

Re: Build Thread: Ramsay CNC Plasma Question
centroid467 ,
If I just put the two wires together 1/2, it fires. But putting it through the Out relay, it does not fire.
Tried both 2 and 1 out, neither works. But both leds light up when torch on is pressed.
It's as if the relay was not functioning, although showing it does.
No voltage on Out 2.

Re: Build Thread: Ramsay CNC Plasma Question
The 1/2 wires are just direct connects to turn on the torch, so easy.
But when they are put through the first two pins of the Out relay, they do not fire when torch on.
When touched together, the plasma clicks and lights up the "Work" led.
But the relay is not functioning.
When pulling/putting the phoenix connector in, I get the clicking from the plasma, so is something wrong with the board? I have not used the Out board yet. I am now using the Bench Test DB25 rather than the Bench Test Screw Terminal. Inputs on H4 work, maybe outputs on H10 don't? Should I connect through DB25 because H2/H3/H4 did not function?
Regarding wires from Pin's 3/4, do both wires connect to Input assigned ARK OK?

Re: Build Thread: Ramsay CNC Plasma Question
Have you had any problems with the Phoenix connectors? We've switched them, but when we tighten down on the screw the connection goes bad, but as we slide the wire in it functions.
We are getting about 2v from the signal on the Plasma machine. Is that high enough to function with the relay?

Re: Build Thread: Ramsay CNC Plasma Question
2V seems low from a noise immunity perspective even without considering that the signal comes from an inherently noisy device. The relay should not care - the contact resistance should be low enough that it does not matter.
H10 (relay) outputs are always available. They are the primary configurable PLC outputs for Acorn. Not sure at all why it would not be working. Do the LEDs on the Acorn and the relay board corresponding to OUT2 match in color? Do they change when the output is toggled?
One wire from pins 3 and 4 of the plasma box/s CNC port should go to the Acorn input and the other should go to common/logic ground. Don't know which one since the documentation nor any listings I have found for it say anything about the polarity.

Yes, they match/correspond, and change when output is toggled.centroid467 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 04, 2024 4:21 pm Do the LEDs on the Acorn and the relay board corresponding to OUT2 match in color? Do they change when the output is toggled?
Can you explain to me the function of the 3/4 wires (TorchArcOK)? Maybe that they have been connected incorrectly affects the 1/2 Torch On?

Re: Build Thread: Ramsay CNC Plasma Question
There must be another approach to getting the torch to turn on through the relay. The red and black (1/2) when connected together directly fire the torch. When put through the relay Out 2, and the torch is turned on through the VCP, the light for Out 2 on H10 turns on but the torch does not fire.
What else could it be? Really have to solve this.
I don't think there is any hardware problem with the relay board, as it has not been used up until this point.
I switched the wires to another phoenix connector, then tried another relay (Out 1) after altering the parameter in Wizard output signals.
I've checked alternating the TorchArcOK wires, and that makes no difference. Not sure what the function of that is, as its not in the Centroid Plasma manual on a Find or page review.

Re: Build Thread: Ramsay CNC Plasma Question
Ok, I moved to Out 4 and then shut down after altering the TorchOn pin in the Wizard to Out 4.
When I restarted the machine, before starting CNC12, the torched turned on. When CNC12 started, it turned off. But when I turned on the torch through the VCP, it does not function.
So it is a bit different, but not working. Why would the torch turn on when the machine was turned on without the VCP running yet?
