This would be "Jogging Protection" when aligning the axes for touch plates. Currently, one could easily jog at fast jog rate into the plate, or possibly after measuring, into the part or a fixture with an unfortunate axis knob selection on the MPG or button on VCP etc.

Proof of possibility with a finished measure on the plate, but an inadvertent horizontal jog with 100x still set on the MPG.....

I just want to get clarification, you horizontally jogged into the side of your part after setting the zero's, and not the plate its self?

Sorry, bad wording/order. Inadvertently jogging horizontally when asked to position the tool into the center of the plate at 100x. This was done intentionally for the purpose of testing it and getting a nonsensical pic of the consequences (old worn out bit). The underlying issue is, that you can jog in any axis at fast jog rate when using any of the Set Part Zeros corner or surface plate options if you happen to have the MPG or VCP in the right state.

Moral of the story, it might be a good idea to apply a protected state once you get into the Set Part Zero options, like the probe rates are done. Crosshair laser would be an exception I guess.

To be fair, you could be in the main menu or even in the job and still produced this result. Operator is responsible, as much as CNC12 would like to know everything about the machine, there are times when CNC12 must trust the operator. Could require mandatory cameras that let CNC12 see the machine

Though jokes aside, the Probe rates apply when the probe is detected. Touchplates typically dont have said detection, so would be harder to determine when to limit the controls. An assumption could be made when in certain menus perhaps, have to think on it. Thanks for pointing it out.

True, and I agree on the nanny state, it's just that it's now been made more of a possibility with the new changes/additions. Assumptions when in certain menus or possibly some pre-flight checks and balances in the default macros? If you edit or make your own, you're responsible for handling or adding it.

To note, I've never had the problem myself (except for diving the Z into some material a few times before the implementation of the Z inhibit  ), but things happen and the chances of it happening are more possible now.

Hi Scott,

you can make a plug for the touch plate that activates probe detect when plugged in to limit jog speed.

There is a graphical bug an Acorn6 lathe Run menue.

Search is under the function keys.

Thanks Uwe,

Yep, that could be done as well. I don't know what Avid does with their corner plates, but I'm guessing they may have that implemented. Mine is always connected, and gets stuck on the side of the machine with some non-conductive magnet strip. Like I mentioned, I've never had an issue, but.... ;)

In this case you can use a micro switch at the mounting location that sets probe detect if the plate is removed.

R9 is now on my mill with Acorn, no problems so far, search in RunJob is also ok.

I am really happy how smoothly the SSV is running now :)

Great new features form 5.10 we now have, thank you.
