Touch Probe or plate CNC router??
Thanks for taking the time to read and possibly help.
I'm trying to find a quicker and more accurate method for setting the height of my spoilboard on my CNC machine.
Currently, I manually set zero by taking my 3/8 profile cutter down to the spoilboard. I use a small piece of paper, lowering the bit slowly with the pendant until the paper can't slide out from under the endmill. Then, I set my part Z zero in the settings. This method isn't giving me accurate Z cutting depths, and my through cuts are often cutting deeper into the spoilboard than what is set in the toolpath.
Can anyone recommend a touch plate or another product that could make this process easier and more accurate?
I've done some research on touch plates and probes, but I'd like some advice on the best way to approach this.
Thanks a ton for any help!

Avid touch plate is the bomb.
new menus in the Wizard and CNC12 directly support its function.

Re: Touch Probe or plate CNC router??
Thank you Keith. Looking into the setup process on how to connect it and get it running with CNC12.

Re: Touch Probe or plate CNC router??
correct, looks like you are using cnc12 v5.1.. touch plate has been added to Acorn Router CNC12 v5.18 which is in final beta testing here.

Hey Keith, cnckeith wrote: ↑Tue Jul 09, 2024 3:15 pm how to wire up to Acorn
https://www.centroidcnc.com/dealersuppo ... 247.r1.pdf
My touch plate came in today. I didn't get the Avid plate, I got one from a seller on ebay. Its a basic touch plate, It doesn't have the connector like the avid does, how would I wire this up?
Currently I have two wire coming off the plate, one attached to the bit and the other going to input 6 with it set to Touch Plate Tripped. Its not working at all so I know I've got something wired wrong.
I've attached pictures of my wizard to make sure its setup properly.
Thanks for your help.
