24v input issue <resolved, short to ground by foil>
just got my new acorn board and I have the board communicating with cnc12 and I'am able to get the stepper motors to move. All lights and heart beat are working on the board. The problem happens when I feed the 24volt to the 24V in on the input terminal. As soon as I attach the 24volts all lights turn off, and heart beat stops. nothing works. if I disconnect the 24volts everything is fine again. I do not have any inputs connected.

Re: 24v input issue
sounds like you got things wired wrong. take off all wires and double check, triple trace out your wiring.
what schematic are you following?
photos of your setup?
what make model stepper drive are you using?
need more info to be of good help.
review this post.

Re: 24v input issue
To rule out all wiring all I have connected is step and direction wires for each axis. These work fine. I have power coming into the power terminal of the acorn using the supplied power supply and wiring harness. When powered on I read 24v at the power terminal. When I connect the single black wire shown in the picture from the 24v power terminal to the 24v in on the input terminal, the voltage goes to 0. When I disconnect it, power comes back on.

Re: 24v input issue
It looks like you are connecting to a 24v com terminal on the power block. The 24v(+) terminals are the 2 on the far right

Re: 24v input issue
No it’s connected to the 24v positive(black wire closest to the yellow in pic). It also reads 24v on the multimeter. It goes to 0v when plugged into the 24v in. On the input terminal.

Re: 24v input issue
I also removed all stepper motor wiring aswell disconnected from the computer. As soon as the 24v in is feed to the input terminal. Voltage goes to 0v

Re: 24v input issue
I completely remove the acorn board and only have the power supply connected. I get 24v when not connected to the input 24v in and 0v when it is connected.

Re: 24v input issue
how about a photo of the power supply so we can see what wires are connect to which terminals.

Re: 24v input issue
I haven’t changed anything from how I received it.
