CNC12 V5.08 VCP Rapid/Feed Panel Issue/Bug <self resolved>
Hello All,
CNCKeith, I actually have the little mill up and running making small parts to complete the build!! But I have encountered a curious anomaly with the rapid/feed override panel using "acorn_mill_vcp_rapid_skin.vcp". When the panel is in RAPID, the feed and rapid rates are coupled together rather than just modifying the rapid rate. When the panel is is FEED, neither the feed rate or the rapid rate is altered, but the main screen does reflect the percentage change requested in the feed rate. However, then numeric display of the feed rate and the actual feed rate remains unchanged. No changes have been made to VCP, it's the out the box version. Any ideas anybody?
Thanks,
Tim

hello. your max rate and fast jog are set to the same value of 50.

Re: CNC12 V5.08 VCP Rapid/Feed Panel Issue/Bug
Hi,
So what am I missing here? Both rates are simultaneously controllable in RAPID, the actual feed rate is not controllable when in FEED, though the percentage changes on the main screen (lower right) the actual rate is unaltered.

Re: CNC12 V5.08 VCP Rapid/Feed Panel Issue/Bug
This is all about command stuff from VCP 5.08. All the G code commanded functions from a machining standpoint are great.
Happily machining away at a part and decided to decrease the feed rate from the VCP panel. If the button at VCP 4,11 (RAPID/FEED) is in the FEED state, and the +/- or the fixed percentage buttons are pushed, it does nothing to the actual feed (or rapid) rate but does change the feed percentage display in the lower right corner of the main screen. However, the displayed feed rate at the just below the feed percentage display location remains unaltered,i.e. at the feed rate commanded by the G code. Only the percentage display is altered. If the RAPID/FEED button is in the RAPID state, it controls both the rapid and feed rates together.
Also another new behavior of the 5.08 VCP is that it will boot up in rapid continuous mode even though slow mode was selected in the VCP screen of the wizard.
Thanks
Tim

Re: CNC12 V5.08 VCP Rapid/Feed Panel Issue/Bug
- VCP boot up state bug has been fixed in v5.09 beta that is now available in the beta forum.
with v5.08 it will remember you last settings on boot up. so if you close it with slow/cont. it opens with slow/cont
what happens when you issue
G0X5 and set RAPID over to 50%, what speed do you see on the screen?
and then
G1X0 F50 and set FEED over to 50%, what speed do you see on the screen?

Re: CNC12 V5.08 VCP Rapid/Feed Panel Issue/Bug
sounds like somehow you got the old method of rapid and feed control and the new method of separate mixed up?
I loaded your report.zip on my machine and i can not reproduce your results. how about a video link?

Re: CNC12 V5.08 VCP Rapid/Feed Panel Issue/Bug
oh, i think i see what the confusion is
when using separate controls for Rapid and Feed override
the Rapid Override controls are used to control the VCP Jogging speed. so if you have the Rapid Override at 50% and Fast or Slow jog the rate will be 50% of your fast and slow rate settings.
