When I setup my machine that runs CNC12, I believe I was advised to disconnect it from WIFI. Since it is disconnected from WIFI, I load g-code files using a flash drive. I recently posted a regarding using a switch to share the flash drive with two machines. Someone posted that you can setup a network to share the drives.
Would it be it be possible/advisable to share a folder over the network between the CNC12 machine and for example a machine that runs Fusion 360, but still have the CNC12 machine not connected to the internet. Essentially, what is the best way to share files between a machine running Fusion 360 and CNC12?
Thanks... Richard

Re: Sharing Files With CNC12 Machine
Look up peer to peer networking with Win10/11 to share required folders. Interdict internet access with your CNCPC firewall
Hope this helps

Re: Sharing Files With CNC12 Machine
I leave the CNC-PC WiFi on and connected to the local network, and use file sharing for file transfers with no issues. You can map a network folder on the CNC-PC as a drive on the design PC for quick access.

Re: Sharing Files With CNC12 Machine
I am familiar with sharing folders etc... But I have not done so with the internet connection turned off on the machine. I will try shuttling down the internet with the firewall... Thanks.

Re: Sharing Files With CNC12 Machine
I was successful in sharing a folder between the CNC12 PC and the machine I use to run Fusion. Two questions:
1. Is the machine running CNC12 supposed to be disconnected from the internet?
2. If so, is it possible for the CNC12 machine to be connected to the router for local file sharing, but not connected to the internet? I am using a WIFI connection.
I tried using Windows Defender to do this but could not make it work. Is there an easy way to maintain a connection for file sharing, but have no internet?
Thanks.. Richard

Re: Sharing Files With CNC12 Machine
In reverse order, to allow LAN for folder / file sharing but block ALL Inbound and Outbound Internet traffic using WIn 10 Firewall, refer to following article
https://geekoverdose.wordpress.com/2020 ... allow-lan/
Personally, I allow Internet access from my CNCPC but have it configured to apply updates etc on demand only not automatically. I use Win 10's Defender for Anti Virus as well as Acronis True Image for regular backups and disaster recovery to the NAS box (ZyXel NAS542 4 drive configured to RAID 5) on my LAN via a Wi-Fi connection. My LAN router is a powerful Security Gateway (ZyXel USG60w) where stricter Firewall rules are also applied but frankly, if the CNCPC and the router are properly configured, there should be no problem at all.
