My homing is 50 seconds, y axis slaved gantry machine. Any ideas to eliminate the pauses between operations, including saving positions? My prior setups typically run 10 seconds.
Thanks,

Re: Speeding up homing process
I use the the PARK command as it moves faster. I currently have to leave my mill table positioned at the opposite end from home, when I turn on my machine using PARK to position the table close to HOME saves a lot of time.

Re: Speeding up homing process
You can change the homing feedrate, per axis, in the wizard on the "Homing and Travel" page. Take care to not set it too high, as repeatability could suffer, depending on your setup. I reliably run 120/120/90 in/min with mine. I also use "Park" when shutting down for the day, leaving the axes close to home for the next power up.

I also run Park, programmed to go to 2mm from the limits, so it's really close.
As for transits during homing, they affect little to me, most of it is pauses every step, in software, but I was curious if rapid homing transits would affect repeatability, so I set them pretty mild, can't recall, but around 300 mm/min.

Re: Speeding up homing process
Please post a current report so we can see your current configuration.
On your "Y axis slaved gantry machine" are you using auto pairing and squaring? Were your prior setups the same setup as this one? This automatically takes longer but you can shave a few seconds out of some of the homing macros. It'll never be as fast as a non auto pairing and squaring machine.
Relax for a few seconds, what's the rush?

Re: Speeding up homing process
Depends on how repeatable your drives can slow down. But the most important thing is to home always at the same speed.Insect wrote: ↑Thu Nov 16, 2023 12:50 pm I also run Park, programmed to go to 2mm from the limits, so it's really close.

Re: Speeding up homing process
That's what is it. I'm running a slaved Y, auto pairing, auto squaring. 55 seconds. 500mm/min home rate.
