5 axis XYZ AB setup

Post by designing »

Hi,
I consider retrofitting and 3 Axis mill while adding a A und B axis setup. I couldn't find any details on how to configure that.
Like:
- How to define the A axis location in the XYZ space?
- How to define the B axis location in space?
- Are 5 axis WCS supported?
- Does the G code require inverse feedrates?

If you can redirect me to existing resources, please let me know.

Thanks,
Stefan

post a link to an online photo album of your machine.

It is a very similar machine to that. It's not here. I've no detail pictures.
Plus some A B turn/ tilt setup on the XY plattform.

It's really a theoretical question. Does the A axis have to be 100% aligned to the X axis or can I just drop it onto the machine and measure the orientation. I did configure a turntable for a Kuka setup in the past and you can position the axis anywhere and just tell the controller where.

I can certainly align the A along X and the Y perpendicular within range, but there will be some measurable deviation, that the controller could compensate for.

Thanks for some insight

we align a to x and sweep things in so it is mechanically aligned.
then you can by hand or semi auto or full auto run macros to use a probe to pick up the exact center locations.
i''ll see if i can find my notes on this process and post them here for you.

Thanks for the link.
So the alignment of A along X and B must be dead nuts square.
No way to nugde that in software?

Thanks,
Stefan
