analog 0-10 volt putting out 24v <resolved>

I wish to use the acorn board to control a VFD. I have run the CNC12 utility to calibrate the 10v output. s1000 = 33v s1500 = 5v etc. no problem. My concern is that until I start the spindle the analog output is 24v. I am reluctant to put 24v onto what is expecting 10v. What am I missing? Report attached.

Hi Jim, we need to know more about the VFD and post a link to the VFD manual so we can help. Start a Google album and share pics of the current wiring and components. We need much more info to help you. Are you saying the Acorn is putting out 24 volts on the analog output?

Here is the manual for my VFD. I still think the problem is with the Acorn board. Where does the 10v come from? Somewhere i read that it can also pot out 0-5v. Is this true? I will send pictures if necessary.

How are you measuring 24v? With the VFD connected to the analog Vout / Gnd terminals or with nothing connected other than your voltmeter? In the former case your wiring is suspect.

As Nigelo stated, measure the voltage on the analog outputs with NOTHING hooked to them other than your multimeter.

As for your VFD, you should be connected to AGND and AVI for the 0-10v signal from Acorn.

This is why we ask for pics and/or diagrams of how you wired it. Without more details we are just guessing. Please start a Google album and share a link here with us. This way ALL your pics are in ONE location.

99% of the time it is operator error on wiring or programming. That is why pics of "(I hooked up this yellow wire in this picture of the board to this pin of the vfd)" with pics of both items. Folks will help you troubleshoot it, but they can't do it blindfolded.

Hopefully your top post here was a typo and you didn't tell it to send 33 volts.

First I wish to thank you for your assistance so far. I have attached pictures of my set up. I guess I neglected to point out that I have not connected the 10v to anything but my meter. I have a four conductor shielded wire using black and white on 10v on the board. The other ends are hooked to my meter. As you can see from the pictures I am getting 24+v. I am sure it is my fault but what? And yes the 33v was meant to be 3.3v.

Look closer at your meter, it reads 24.9 millivolts.
