Now my lathe uses a scale on X for closed loop.
Easy peasy done after work

Quickly becoming a favorite YouTube channel. It's increasingly high level work. Thanks, Uwe.

Stop making this look so easy! Us mere mortals only can dream of doing this stuff! Great job.

How are you dealing with the conflict between your encoder on the servo and the linear scales? What is the resolution of your encoders? Or is this a non issue?

I have only tested my default setting.
The x-axis driver is set to 2000 steps/mm, that works fine with the 1000 lines/mm linear scale.

It looks easy, because the Centroid staff is making things easy peasy for us to use
There are long boring discussions in german forums how to integrate scales in other CNCs, with Centroid it´s a 15min job if you are slow

Do you have to have acorn six to use scales?

Yes with ultimate license, or Oak / AllInOne

Haha yes, I have closed loop controls on my other (LinuxCNC) lathe. It was "a learning experience" but some features don't work (eg conversational). An OS update will be required to fix that, at which point I'd have to reconfigure all over again, hoping in the meantime that the GUI has also been updated to suit. I may not be able to resolve those issues until I have completed my LinuxCNC PhD
It makes the "updating to 4.82" challenge look quite trivial.

Is it not possible to use the encoders on the servos/hybrids to do the same job as using scales?
