Hi Group,
I sold my Boss 5 Bridgeport mill running Acorn control system to a Gentleman in the Austin area. He bought it to do one type of tapping operation for a reoccurring job. He used this program on Mach3 Bridgeport at a previous employer using a G84 cycle with a floating tapping head. The problem he is having on the Centriod system is the spindle is not reversing. I’m guessing this is a setting or program issue. I don’t have the expertise to steer him in the right direction. Any suggestions or if there is anyone in the area that could help it would be appreciated. He is happy to pay for the support.
Thanks Harry

Re: G84 cycle Help Please
How is the spindke controlled? Did you install a VFD? Does the spindle reverse when using MDI and executing a M4 command? Do you have the wiring diagram for the conversion? Photos of the machine and electrical cabinet?
Cheers,
Tom
Confidence is the feeling you have before you fully understand the situation.
I have CDO. It's like OCD, but the letters are where they should be.

Re: G84 cycle Help Please
I did the conversation but do not have machine available as it is 200 miles away. The spindle is controlled by a VFD and no spindle encoder. My memory is the spindle will respond to M3,m4 and M5 in the mdi as well as the screen keys. I will confirm with the owner. My thought after posting, is the software wasn’t allowing the g84 cycle due to no spindle encoder or software configuration.
I guess the next step is to post the gcode and see if there is a problem there, If all the above (mdi inputs ) are correct .
Thx for your help!

Re: G84 cycle Help Please
use the tapping cycles in Intercon to eliminate g code related issues.
