Acorn and Emcoturn 120 with 8-tools-turret

Can someone tell me how much reverse-holding-voltage should be used on a emcoturn 120?
I thought about measuring current and adjusting voltage to value where current reaches 150mA

Anyone?

V=IR so just measure the motor winding resistance.

Hey guys,

just a short follow-up here for now, the "big built-thread" will be written later on, without that many questions in between^^

The lathe moves and spins now, the turret can be moved via activating the correlating output-relay.
Encoder works, spindle-speeds are tuned to the following values:
S250 261rpm
S300 316rpm
S500 498rpm
S640 640rpm
S700 702rpm
S1000 1008rpm
S1500 1511rpm
S2000 2015rpm
S2500 2516rpm
(didn't measure higher values, as they are not critical at all)

And i just found out, i didn't order the pro-license directly with the acorn, so i just bought that and have to wait now for the email^^

Next big step will be to setup the turret-PLC-functionality...

-Am i right that the ATC-files "4.6 ATC programs and instructions" from here https://centroidcncforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=60&t=3397 are the most recent ones to get and follow?

-And will the wizard (of the actual beta 4.79 rev3) work with the .srcs from that files?

-Does anyone have any further tips and/or hints regarding the turret-setup?

Yes that is where the information is. You can look in there and figure out which one will work. Luckily for you I think there is an existing macro that should work. The counter based one probably. I am using that one but I had it modified. If you are not happy with how it works you can change it. Best to just get it working as much as possible though. There are instructions in each file. If you read through the PLC you can figure out how it works.

Turret set up hint. I do recommend having a way to quickly remove power from the turret if something goes wrong. In my case I just used a toggle switch.

Luckily for you I think there is an existing macro that should work. The counter based one probably.

I really hope they are working^^ I will need the gray-code-one-output-src for my emcoturn.
But if i remember correctly, Marty had his turret working with the same macro, so i am hopeful

I am using that one but I had it modified. If you are not happy with how it works you can change it.

That is the more difficult part But after Uwe told me today about the "Find All in Current Document"-function in Notepad++, things could become a little bit easier to follow.
My biggest challenge will be to not getting lost on that many different variables

Next cool NP++ thing is Find ALL in ALL Open Documents if you have 2 files to compare

With that old .src from the ATC-files i'd loose many new features i'd like to keep... like diagonal jogging and such things.
But for a programmer-noob like me it seems like the atc-functionality is in the newer .src-files, too. Is this true?

Is the actual .src (that comes with every new CNC12-installation-files) suitable for the 4bit-gray-code-1-output-ATC-functionality, too?
So can i go with the manual from the ATC-files, but keep the newer .src that came with the actual beta-release?

With upcoming V4.8 the PLC from acorn incorporates the logic for ATC in the PLC by default. But the extra files and instructions from the ATC-files will still be required as well.

If you excluded the .src files, you will likely run into compile errors or hidden ATC related I/O. In addition not all m-codes are provided with the install as of yet as well.

We will have updated V4.8 ATC files soon.

What means soon?

A software-engineer told me once:
"If a software-engineer tells you, it will take 2 days to finish the software, you have to multiply by 2 and step up the unit. That means, 2*2=4, and days go to weeks, so 4 weeks if he says 2 days.
We are not talking about such a "soon" here, i hope?

I'd be glad to test the ATC-files for the 4bit-grey-code-one-output-turret-variant
