Great work. What type of aluminum is that you are using? The reason I ask is I didn't know you could bend aluminum the way you have done it.

The piece is AW6060, quite easy to bend with a milled V-groove.

Re: New Build, PM2700 lathe with Acorn
Today in the afternoon my servos arrived, so I could not wait to bolt them on
Spindle servo is half the size and double to power of the 400V motor and also the servo for Z is smaller than the CL Stepper with also more than double power....
Quick test if they jog and setting parameters with the laptop.
Made a fast wiring, ALM ist not connected yet, was curious to see them running
Well fast is relative soldering the small connector is time consuming.
Spindle runs faster and smoother now, Z-axis got a boost from 5000mm/min to 10000mm/min rapid an also nearly silent. Servo could spin faster, but it is already slightly over the critical rpm for the long ballscrew.
Had to setup Acorn to 400 khz so it will give this speed with 4000 steps/rev.
Must complete the wiring and do some tuning of the servos, but seems they work ok right out of the box.
Quite happy with the JMC servos, fast and smooth installation for someone like me having no clue why all this works, simply used the schematics

cool!
when finalized, please share the "drive type" file exported from the Wizard and a sketch of the drive to acorn wiring and i'll add to the Acorn schematic set and include the drive type in the Wizard installation.

Re: New Build, PM2700 lathe with Acorn
ok. no problem if I have tested everything. The drivers also have an output for ZRi homeing and can be switched from speed to position mode with an input. Could work to have C-axis with acron...

First drawing of the wiring, will ad ZRi Home later...
For Servo Reset, I use a switch on the cabinet, because some alarms or parameterchanges need power cycle.

Re: New Build, PM2700 lathe with Acorn
The Encoder Output is:
PIN 50 OZ+ Encoder Z positive output
PIN 48 OCZ Encoder Z Phase-open collector output
PIN 24 OZ- Encoder Z negative output
The encoder runs with 5V
Not shure I can wire Pin 48 to one of Acorns 24V inputs without blowing the encoder up ?
