Cheers,

Confidence is the feeling you have before you fully understand the situation.
I have CDO. It's like OCD, but the letters are where they should be.

Re: Day 11 and it runs....
Thank you both.
Sure I have measured backlash, it is 0,02mm (0,00078") on X and Y and corrected in the wizard.
Could be the cause, the mark is only visible, but I can't feel a step there.
Will replace the cheap Chinese ball screws with better ones in the future.
Kind regards
Uwe

Build a 4th axis with a tilting table using a Vertex HV6 as base.
and changed the motor for the spindle to a JMC servo drive to speed up the things a little...

Re: Day 11 and it runs....
Made some further improvements, changed the ballscrews to 2% preloaded from HiWin and to a 12Nm Closed Loop stepper on Z with 2:1 HTD belt reduction
Now its running with a good precision and fast rigid tapping for a hobby mill. I am really pleased how smooth Acorn ist controlling everything.
Thread milling is also very easy to setup, the only thing i would have liked to improve ist that Intercon should have an amount to dial in for finish pass.
If i use 2 or 3 passes all are in the same diameter, but the threads are ok. For harder steel it would be better to have different cuts.

Re: Day 11 and it runs....
nice upgrades thanks for sharing.
to make a threadmilling finish pass.. simply create another tool number with same length as the threadmill tool but with a larger diameter than what the tool actually is.
then in intercon use this 'new' tool for the first pass, the larger diameter setting for the tool will produce a 'rough' pass of the threads with a smaller diameter.
then do same threadmilling cycle with the actual tool and that will result in the finish pass.
so the intercon program would look like this....
Tool 22 = threadmill tool with larger diameter than actual
Threadmilling Cycle (acts as rough pass since it will leave material to cut by not cutting the threads at the programmed diameter)
Tool 20 = threadmill tool with actual diameter
Threadmilling Cycle

Re: Day 11 and it runs....
Made for meat, not tomatoes
But well they will cut them too.
Heat tread in american Even Heat ( best hobby oven IMHO ) to HRC64 and hollow grinded like razor blades. Tomorrow they will be finished and I will cut a tomato for you
Scales are also CNC cut with Acorn.
